What this service provides

The Equal Pay Key (the Key) delivers to you in a convenient form, the information required to determine your appropriate job classification under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010.

The Key is designed to generate a completed document that the users may provide to their employer to apply to be reclassified. It is your responsibility as a user of the product, to provide accurate information in response to the questions. .

 To ensure that the documents you generate using the Key properly reflect your circumstances you must be very careful to:

  • provide accurate answers to all the questions asked in the online questionnaire;  
  • review the document carefully before submitting it to your employer  to check that the document that has been generated accords with the answers you provided to the questions

What this service does not provide

In using this product, you are not receiving legal advice from the Australian Services Union (ASU) in relation to your proper classification, wages or any other matter.   
The Key provides general information.  This is not the same as legal advice.  One key difference is that the information provided is general in nature and not specific to your situation.  

The Key is only appropriate for and available for use by those users whose employment details fit the Social and Community Services or Crisis Accommodation classification criteria.  It is your responsibility to provide accurate information in completing the online questionnaire.  The ASU undertakes no check of the accuracy of the information that you provide.

Before generating and submitting a document to your employer using the Key, I acknowledge that in doing so:

  • The ASU has not provided me with any legal advice in relation to your proper classification, wages or any other matter. I understand that the Key is a guide only in preparing and submitting my application;
  • The ASU has not conducted a fact finding investigation or otherwise verified the accuracy of my instructions in relation to my personal, employment or financial affairs provided in the online questionnaire to generate the application.  I accept that I am responsible to ensure the accuracy of the information provided in relation to my personal, employment and financial affairs based on which my document has been generated.  I accept that I am responsible for any unforeseen and/or undesirable consequences as a result of any inaccuracy in the information I provided during the online questionnaire;
  • The ASU has not assessed my personal, employment or financial affairs and recommended that a document from the Key is appropriate for me;
  • The ASU has not checked the accuracy of the document generated by the Key against the information I have provided.  I accept that it is my responsibility to do so;
  • The ASU is not responsible for and will not be saving and storing the document generated from my using the Key.
  • It is my responsibility to print and submit the document generated by the Key to my employer.

The ASU does not undertake any analysis of your personal circumstances, including financial or employment circumstances and makes no assessment or recommendation as to whether using the  document generated using the Key  is the best option for you.  It is up to you to make that assessment.

If you don’t understand any of the questions in the online questionnaire or are unsure whether your answers to any of the questions are accurate, the document generated may not accurately reflect your classification.  It is your responsibility to provide accurate information in relation to your employment circumstances and to seek assistance from a professional adviser if you need further assistance.
